Every Child Deserves a Way to Speak Up
How one parent’s personal journey built a safer, calmer communication tool that helps families connect.
“Communication is connection — and every voice deserves a way to speak up.”
Born From a Parent’s Heart, Not a Boardroom
Some products exist because someone spotted a market gap. Speak Up Board exists because a father watched his daughter struggle to tell him what she needed — and refused to accept that there wasn’t a better way.
The founder of Atlaz Productions built Speak Up Board directly out of his family’s experience with speech impediments — his daughter’s and his own childhood. After trying existing communication tools, he found them lacking: cluttered with ads, difficult to navigate, or simply not designed with the child’s comfort and dignity in mind. So he built something different.
The result is an AAC-style visual communication and early learning app that feels warm, safe, and genuinely child-first — available now at app.speakupboard.com.
A Communication Board That Actually Feels Good to Use
At its core, Speak Up Board lets children communicate by tapping illustrated picture cards that build into spoken sentences. It is designed for children with speech delays, apraxia, non-verbal autism, developmental differences, and families who want a calmer digital space.
The board uses a child-friendly, color-coded structure that helps children build clearer sentences from left to right.
- Visual Sentence Builder: tap picture cards to assemble spoken sentences.
- Family Builder: add family, teachers, and friends to make vocabulary personal.
- Inclusive Avatars: diverse visuals help children feel represented.
- Parent Portal: parent-controlled profiles, vocabulary, settings, and data.

What’s Inside the Learning Board
Progress You Can See & Share
The Skill Badges system tracks achievement across Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Perfect tiers. Parents can review progress, session times, and learning patterns to share with SLPs, teachers, or pediatricians.
✦
Designed Safe — Not Patched Safe
In a world where children’s apps are often filled with ads, tracking, and distractions, Speak Up Board was built to do the opposite.
Zero ads, popups, or sales inside the child experience
No open chat, stranger messaging, or public profiles
No personal images required or downloaded
Parent PIN protects profile editing and setup
AES-GCM encryption for local profile data
Offline-capable for hospitals, travel, and weak Wi-Fi
No third-party behavioral tracking
Parent-controlled data purge at any time
The offline capability matters because families do not only need communication tools at home. They need them in waiting rooms, road trips, hospitals, classrooms, and everyday moments where connection cannot wait.

Built for Every Body, Every Ability
Speak Up Board is designed with accessible navigation, clear touch targets, predictable layouts, child-friendly visuals, and screen-reader support in mind.
The app is being built around a calm experience: no dragging, no complex gestures, no traps, and no overstimulating clutter. Just clear choices a child can learn and trust.
A formal WCAG audit is planned before broader app store launches.
More Families Than You Might Think
Speak Up Board was designed for children with speech delays, apraxia, non-verbal autism, or developmental differences. Its vocabulary depth, sensory-calm design, and offline reliability also make it useful for neurodivergent learners, bilingual families, daycare providers, and educators.
If you work in pediatric speech therapy, special education, or early childhood development, Speak Up is actively seeking SLP and AAC professional reviewers to provide structured feedback.
